Today's post is on "The Demon of Unrest: A Saga of Hubris, Heartbreak, and Heroism at the Dawn of the Civil War," by Erik Larson. Larson focuses on the six months leading up to the Civil War, from the presidential election in which Lincoln won to the surrender of Fort Sumter. Larson notes that the events of January 6, 2021 helped shape the outcome of this book.It is an interesting read by one of the best history writers of our times. The book can be found at https://lnkd.in/gPkM3mzD.

I'm 40% through it. Classic Larson: mostly created through use of diaries of people involved in the events. It's a good reminder that divisions in our country have been around as long as the country has existed.

Today’s post is on “Southern Man,” by Greg Iles. Penn Cage is back. It does a nice job of showing the plausible in the current tense nation we are in, and involves a lot, including the 2024 presidential campaign.I am not quite a third in, just excellent story telling, but it comes in at 900+ pages. The book can be found at https://lnkd.in/gxqWUprf

After a normal Friday at the office, headed to Oak Park to connect with friend, great lawyer, and fellow rock traveler, Patrick Markey, and headed to Summerfest. Some Buckcherry, Seether, and Motley Crue. Late night but up and at it. #LoveItLoud #Build #Discipline

I from time to time get emails asking if I am interested in getting a list of emails of [fill in blank]. I likely would never have a need. My question- are there lawyers or others who get these emails and buy the lists? Other than in a company I worked at where a lot of emails went out to potential insureds, cannot for life of me understand why someone thinks I would have such an interest?#FridayMusings #everyonetryingtosellsomething
