Fit Friday with Nichole
For our Loving Fit Friday posts this month we have gotten a few new workouts. This week we are going to focus on Loving ourselves with some healthy reminders that go beyond the gym. I say reminder because I rarely share any new information.
I don’t have any secrets to share. Instead much the information I share is a reminder with maybe a new reason why it is important.

With a little that is still up at the crack of dawn or thirty minutes before and I teen that would happily stay up til the crack of dawn I am often foregoing sleep. It is so easily justified away until my body forces the down time.
I need that recharge in order to be the mom, wife, friend, human I want to be.

FAQs
Why is my pasta bake dry? Pasta absorbs liquid from the sauce as it cooks. If there's too much pasta and not enough sauce, you can end up with a dry bake. It's best to follow the recommended amounts in the recipe for a pasta bake that's just right.
How to make pasta bake not dry? ›
You want enough loose liquid to cover the bottom. If there isn't enough add some of the pasta water or stock - slowly, don't overdo it - then bake it covered for the first 15-20 minutes. If there's too much liquid in the bottom, bake it uncovered so more evaporates.
How to keep pasta bake moist? ›
Be Generous with the sauce… mix the pasta in with the sauce before layering it, add more sauce between your layers…also do not bake it with the cover off… put aluminum foil on it, bake at 350 for an hour until mozzarella is melted. this will keep your pasta moist and not dry.
How to use pasta bake sauce? ›
1 Preheat your oven (200°C/Gas Mark 6/Fan 180°C). 2 Put 200g dry pasta into a 1.5L shallow ovenproof dish. Pour on the sauce and fill the empty jar to the top of the label with cold water and stir into the pasta, coating well. 3 Bake uncovered, for 25 minutes.
Should you boil pasta before pasta bake? ›
Most pasta bake recipes require you to pre-boil your pasta until it's not quite cooked through and then finish it in the oven. But for days when you can't face another pot to wash up or just need something delicious and comforting but minimal effort…well this is the recipe for you!
Does pasta get softer or harder the longer you cook it? ›
Pasta that is soft and mushy is usually overcooked, while if it's crunchy and hard, this is a good indication that you haven't cooked it for long enough. Pasta cooked perfectly tends to be tender on the inside and a bit firm on the outside.
What is the best pasta shape for pasta bake? ›
For Baked Pasta Dishes
As for picking the perfect pasta shape, we recommend choosing a short cut—like Penne, Shells or Rigatoni—with hollow middles, twists or scoop-like shapes to capture all the goodness of your baked pasta: sauces, small ingredients and melty cheeses galore.
Can you overcook pasta bake? ›
What happens when you overcook pasta? It turns into mush, a pasty version of what it is supposed to be. I would just throw it away and start over again.
Can you use normal pasta sauce for pasta bake? ›
It's so easy and inexpensive to make your own, but if you're pushed for time, any shop-bought tomato-based pasta sauce will be fine. I will admit to using these quite regularly! Just check the ingredients list first – it should be short and all ingredients should be recognisable!
Should you cover pasta bake with foil? ›
Cover very tightly with a double layer of aluminum foil and bake for an hour. At that point the pasta will be cooked, but I like to add some shredded cheese to the top and put it back into the oven, uncovered, to melt the cheese. Then the pasta bake NEEDS TO REST for 15 minutes before serving.
Parmesan finds an irreplaceable place in pasta dishes. It makes Fettuccine Alfredo extra creamy, while Carbonara is boosted by its nutty taste. The cheese is the real deal and an easy choice when making a pasta dish.
How do you thicken pasta bake? ›
Use Flour and Water
Combine 2 tablespoons flour with every 1/4 cup cold water and whisk until smooth. Add the mixture to your sauce over medium heat, and continue to stir and cook until you've reached your desired consistency. Test with a spoon.
Can I put uncooked pasta in the oven? ›
Meet the no-boil pasta bake. Yes, this pasta casserole doesn't even require cooked pasta — just dried. It will take you five minutes to prep for the oven — no, I'm not exaggerating. Pour some dry pasta into a casserole dish, open a can of tomatoes, dump in some cheese and garlic, and bang the whole thing into the oven.
Do you add pasta sauce before or after cooking? ›
First, in authentic Italian cuisine, the sauce is always tossed with the pasta before it ever hits the plate. Just before the sauce is done cooking, the hot pasta is added to the saucepan. Generally speaking, we recommend cooking the pasta in the sauce together for about 1-2 minutes.
How much pasta per jar of pasta bake sauce? ›
OVEN: Place 200g of dry pasta in an ovenproof dish and pour over the contents of the jar of sauce. Fill empty jar with water up to the top of the label and pour into the dish. Stir thoroughly to ensure the pasta is covered, then bake uncovered for 20 minutes in a preheated oven (Electric 200°C/Fan 180°C/Gas 6).
How do you keep pasta from getting hard? ›
Cooked pasta should not sit out for longer than two hours to avoid the noodles going bad before their time. Otherwise, all you need is a container with a tight-fitting lid or a zip-top bag and a little bit of oil or butter.
Why is my homemade pasta hard when cooked? ›
Too much flour makes the pasta tough.
Why does my pasta get hard? ›
If it is undercooked, it will be too hard and chewy. Overcook it and your noodles will be limp and soggy.
