After weeks of elaborate Christmas Cookie baking, I like to keep things simple during those last precious and oh-so-short days before Christmas.

Nevertheless, there is already the odd gap to fill on my holiday cookie platters. This is when I like to whip up a big batch of boozy chocolate whiskey truffles to fill in those yawning gaps on my cookie platters!

Plus, it’s always a good idea to have some food gifts ready to hand out for those surprise Christmas guests that might or might not show up.

And hey, if they don’t show up you can have these Chocolate Whiskey Truffles all to yourself, so win-win, right?

Why these Ceylon Cinnamon Whiskey Truffles are the best last-minute food gift ever:

  • These are so easy to make with simple ingredients and you literally can’t mess them up.
  • They keep for about 2 weeks and can be stored in the fridge.
  • Don’t have whiskey? Use rum, Amaretto or Grand Manier instead!
  • This Whiskey Truffles recipe uses Ceylon Cinnamon which has an amazing flavor and aroma (much better than Cassia Cinnamon aka. the stuff you normally get at the grocery store) and makes all things cinnamon even more fantastic. Plus it comes with some serious health benefits

Tips for making the best ever Dark Chocolate Whiskey Truffles:

  • You want to use the best quality chocolate out there for this whiskey truffles recipe! I like to use a mix of dark chocolate with 70% cocoa and mix it with some milk chocolate to get the perfect melt-in-your-mouthchocolate truffle texture.
  • I use salted butter for this chocolate whiskey truffles recipe. If you only have unsalted butter, make sure to add a big pinch of salt to your whiskey truffle mixture. It brings out the chocolate flavor and makes your homemade truffles taste round.
  • Make sure to let your melted chocolate come to room temperature before adding it to the butter. Basically, you want your chocolate and butter at the same temperature.
  • This truffles recipe uses Ceylon Cinnamon which is superior to Cassia Cinnamon (the type that is normally available at the grocery store) which isn’t evenrealCinnamon and is loaded with the dangerous compound Coumarin that the FDA has recently warned against ingesting. Make sure you stock up on the good stuff, you cinnamon lovers out there.

How do I store my homemade Chocolate Whiskey Truffles?

I store these in a pyrex kitchen container with a tight-fitting lid. Separate each layer of whiskey truffles with a piece of parchment paper.

Keep your Cinnamon Whiskey Truffles in the fridge for storing up to 2 weeks or leave them at room temperature, which is how they taste best. They should be consumed within a week of not chilled.
